Frequently Asked Questions

Undergoing a hair transplant or treatment is not a trivial matter. Our responsibility is to provide you with as much scientifically validated information as possible and to guide you through this life change.

Our team of experts and our specialized surgical doctors have compiled frequently asked questions from Racine2 patients about their alopecia, our transplants and treatments, on medical, financial, or intimate subjects.

The Center

To offer the best in hair transplant and treatments and make it accessible to as many people as possible.

Many women and men suffer daily from their alopecia. To remedy this, they must choose between exorbitantly priced establishments in France or go abroad for often uncertain results and mediocre medical follow-up. Many are also tempted by so-called miracle solutions that are actually scams.

We imagined Racine2 to shatter these issues and revolutionize the sector, without any compromise. Our center is a place at the forefront of technology and medical excellence, democratizing access to hair implants and treatment thanks to clear and affordable pricing.

Presentation of the center

Hyper-specialization and optimization

Our center is located in a completely independent and ultra-modern building of nearly 1000 m², over 6 floors, entirely dedicated to hair transplants and treatments.

Numerous state-of-the-art equipment allows us to perform a large number of transplants and treatments each day while maintaining personalized, warm, and soothing patient monitoring.

This business model gives us the opportunity to practice the lowest prices and reach a larger audience while keeping humans at the heart of our concerns.

The opportunity to assess your alopecia and treat it perfectly, on the outskirts of Paris.

The center is located at 16 rue Anatole France in Levallois Perret, strategically located at the foot of the Louise Michel station on line 3 of the Paris metro, easily accessible from SNCF train stations, RER stations, and the RATP network.

  • Haussmann Saint-Lazare : 9 minutes
  • Opera : 11 minutes
  • Châtelet – Les Halles, Gare de Lyon : 22 minutes
  • Gare Montparnasse, Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est : 25 minutes
  • Gare d’Austerlitz : 33 minutes

The Racine Carrée center is designed for the comfort of all.

Our ultra-modern building is accessible on one level through an automatic sliding door. A comfortable elevator serves wide spaces, with airy architecture, practical and pleasant to navigate. The consultation, operation, or treatment rooms are spacious, accessible through wide enough doors. The same goes for our rest rooms. Finally, the center is of course equipped with facilities for the disabled.

All medical equipment, and therefore treatments and transplants performed at Racine2, are naturally accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Paris is full of hotels, but finding good value for money is complex.

Among this gigantic offer, we recommend for example the Armoni Hotel at Porte Champerret, 9 minutes walk from the clinic and 3 minutes by line 3 of the metro.

Its modernity, cleanliness, and welcoming staff are the perfect complement to your Racine2 experience.

We want your experience to be comfortable and warm from start to finish.

If medical rigor and aesthetic perfection are two of our pillars, your well-being is also one of the fundamental principles of the Racine2 Center. Before your graft procedure or during the regrowth of your hair, it is essential to have an appropriate haircut. The same goes for shaving your beard.

At the heart of the center, our salon takes the form of a well full of light, decorated and acoustically treated with care. Your barber is attentive to your expectations while complying with doctors’ recommendations. You approach your graft with total serenity.

Our barber is also a top-tier advisor. He will suggest products that will intelligently complement your treatments.

We are passionate about engaging with you.

It is essential for us to stay in touch with you to gather your questions and to keep you better informed. Before or after your graft or treatments, we are at your disposal. And because there are never any stupid questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

You can contact us on Instagram or via the contact form on our website, and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.

On our blog magazine you’ll find a host of regularly updated articles answering the most frequently asked questions.

Alopecia and Diagnosis

Far from Paris? Abroad? Can't come in for your first consultation?

No problem! We can arrange a first consultation via video call! After scheduling your appointment, we will send you a link allowing us to meet in a video conference. Our teams are well versed in the process. They will get all the necessary information for the diagnosis and answer all your questions.

The diagnosis is a crucial first step in your fight against alopecia, and we have prepared a very comprehensive blog post. Visit our magazine section to discover the procedure of a consultation.

Are you losing your hair, eyebrows, or beard hair? That's alopecia.

Yes, alopecia is the medical term for hair loss leaving the skin partially or completely bare. Baldness – or androgenetic alopecia – is the most common form of alopecia, but certainly not the only one.

Alopecia areata, ringworm, or telogen effluvium are other examples of conditions causing alopecia. Add to this the effects of stress, disease, side effects of treatments, factors like lifestyle or hairdressing habits, and you’ll understand that alopecia is a broad topic requiring a specialized doctor’s diagnosis.

On our blog, we have devoted an article to androgenetic alopecia as well as a special report on female hair loss.

After pregnancy, there is a significant hormonal drop.

It is estimated that postpartum hair loss occurs within three months after delivery and coincides with a drastic drop in estrogen levels.

Effective solutions to achieve hair density, shine, and thickness, even after baby, exist! Mesotherapy and Growth Factors are very effective treatments to counter this problem.

Treatments

Indeed, beards and eyebrows are not spared from alopecia.

Repeated hair removal, permanent makeup, disease, aging, stress, alopecia areata, burn, or an injury: alopecia is not limited to hair and its origins are very diverse. In other cases, it’s simply that your genetics have not been very generous in hair.

The precision of our custom diagnosis will allow you to understand the origin of this eyebrow or beard alopecia and above all, find the solutions that will enhance your face or repair a scarring alopecia.

Our FUE graft allows masking the total or partial loss of eyebrows in an aesthetic, effective, and natural way. The same for a sparse, absent beard, or if you want to improve its shape.

At Racine2, we diagnose alopecia using our doctors' expertise and top-notch technologies like Trichoscan.

We conduct a personalized study of hair density and quality to recommend the most suitable options. With the help of cutting-edge microphotography technology, Trichoscan, we perform a photographic assessment and an accurate analysis of the density. This reveals hair thickness and the proportion of growing and non-growing hair.

Each patient’s care at Racine2 is customized and prolonged. Depending on your alopecia specifics, the nature of your hair, and all your other health parameters, we build the most effective care protocol with you.

We elaborate on the consultation process for a diagnosis in a detailed blog post. Feel free to discover it.

Our free and entertaining online diagnostic tool will give you a preliminary idea of your situation. And if you’re ready to take action, don’t hesitate to book an appointment!

Yes ! Traction alopecia is a common problem we treat.

For instance, stunning creations from African hairstyling can unfortunately lead to localized hair loss due to relaxers, weaves, or braids and extensions. This places excessive traction on the bulb. The same goes for many other hair styles, such as tight ponytails or buns.

These practices, often repeated over long durations, can accelerate the normal hair cycle. Eventually, hair stops growing, leaving a bare or very impoverished area. In addition to treating all hair types—straight to curly, thin to thick—our center will find solutions for your traction alopecia or other damage caused by your hairstyle. A blog post of ours goes into more detail about traction alopecia.

Absolutely not!

A unique aspect of Racine2 is our (rare) ability to treat all hair types.

The diversity of our hair is beautiful, but managing such a variety of hair qualities and textures requires specific expertise. The way hair is lodged in the scalp, the spacing, the number per follicle, or their coverage ability varies greatly.

Good news: at Racine2, our doctors, surgeons, and hairtechs understand these characteristics. They can treat or graft all hair types and will choose the most effective approaches.

Hair, Beard, and Eyebrow Transplants

Beard and mustache transplants are ideal for men who are beardless, have patchy beards, or want to hide scars.

The process is the same as for hair transplants: grafts are taken from the donor area, usually at the back of the head, to be implanted on the beard and mustache.

The transplant densifies the patient’s beard or mustache, making them thicker and uniform. It can also hide any scars on the cheeks or above the lip.

Just like hair transplants, patience is required to achieve optimal results. After 3 to 4 months, the beard will start to grow. The real result of the transplant will be visible 6 months after the procedure and definitive after a year.

Beard Transplant

In the field of hair transplantation, reasoning in terms of the number of hairs doesn't make much sense.

The incredible variety of men’s and women’s hair implies that their coverage ability, implantation, thickness, or the number of hairs per follicular unit can vary significantly.

At Racine2, following a complete diagnosis of your scalp, we calculate the work to be done based on the areas affected by alopecia that we need to restore and enhance.

This approach is concrete, fair, and particularly advantageous for our patients. On our blog, there is an article that goes into more detail about this area-based reasoning.

A vast majority of patients can benefit from a hair transplant.

There is no age limit for performing a hair transplant. The only limit will be the density of the donor area and the extent of the area to be implanted, as well as the patient’s health condition.

More specifically, the two situations that make a transplant unfeasible are:

  • An extremely extensive baldness involving a donor area (usually the occipital region) that is too small or of too low density to be harvested.
  • Medical reasons: pregnancy and breastfeeding, allergies, coagulation disorders, scalp infections and diseases, respiratory insufficiency, cardiovascular diseases, etc.

Regardless of the state of your alopecia, it is essential to consult one of our surgeons for a complete diagnosis. Each patient is unique, from their health status to the specifics of their scalp.

Only a specialist can determine the feasibility of a transplant and especially design the process that will ensure the best results.

The best season for your transplant is when you are ready!

Each season has its own characteristics that highlight certain precautions to be taken after your operation. For example, in summer, it is necessary to protect yourself from the sun and reduce your efforts to avoid intense sweating. In autumn, one should avoid exposure to rain and therefore humidity. In winter, you should not wear tight beanies despite the cold weather.

To guarantee the success of your transplant, these instructions and good practices are very precisely indicated before your departure from the center. A tote bag is also offered to you. It includes a comfort cushion, targeted dietary supplements, and appropriate treatment. As part of your custom post-operative follow-up, our teams will be available to answer all your questions.

On our blog, an article goes into more detail about undergoing a FUE transplant in the summer. Feel free to check it out!

FUE transplant (Follicular Unit Extraction) has nothing but advantages.

We have prepared a complete dossier to revisit the countless virtues of FUE transplant, from its rigorous protocol respectful of your body to its extraordinary and natural results. Visit our blog article by clicking on the button below!

And to learn more about the transplants we offer:

In an overwhelming majority of cases, a single transplant is enough to solve your alopecia. The results are permanent.

The hairs implanted during a FUE transplant come from a donor area unaffected by alopecia, usually at the back of your head.

They, therefore, have the same properties as your healthy alopecia hair: a number of growth cycles usually between 20 and 30, a tendency to whiten with age, etc.

In short, natural and healthy hair that makes your entire hair look coherent, dense, and harmonious.

The already transplanted area is healthy and not at risk. Simply perform another transplant.

Nature and life events are unpredictable. It’s complex to determine when alopecia will occur, how fast it will spread, and how extensive it will be.

To address this, Racine2 patients have numerous solutions judiciously designed with our specialized doctors. Cutting-edge treatments to curb the progression of alopecia and boost hair regrowth. An FUE transplant to permanently treat a severely affected area. A combination of both?

Many scenarios are possible and must be tailor-made for your situation. A two-step transplant, separated by several years, is entirely possible and carries no risk.

Alopecia can occur at any age.

Regardless of your age, you are eligible for a hair transplant, provided you are of age and meet all the health conditions evaluated in our diagnostic consultation.

However, note that at a younger age, hair loss and growth can be irregular. After a transplant, hair loss may continue to spread, requiring a second transplant later on.

So you are free to wait or act immediately. A wise alternative lies in our customized treatments, capable of halting your alopecia’s momentum and densifying your hair.

Having a transplant early also has a major advantage. Your youth allows for optimal uptake and regrowth of grafts, maximizing the transplant results.

In some cases, the transplant is even possible before the age of 18, subject to parental agreement and under certain conditions.

Treatments

Micro-needling injection of hyaluronic acid and vitamins, ideal for temporary hair loss.

Mesotherapy is highly recommended for progressive or sudden hair loss, the treatment of dull, tired, and dehydrated hair, the treatment of oily hair, and the treatment of dandruff.

It improves the structure of the hair, regulates seborrhea, stimulates regrowth, and slows down hair loss thanks to its unique composition. The active ingredients help to cleanse the scalp by rehydrating/stimulating it, allowing it to maintain a protective function. The hair follicles are restructured and strengthened, and the hair is shiny and full of vitality.

Like all our treatments, mesotherapy can be done per session, as a series of treatments, as part of a care formula, or in addition to an FUE transplant, depending on your situation.

Hair Mesotherapy

It allows stopping hair loss, improving its quality and density.

This treatment is natural as it involves using the components present in your blood and taking advantage of the growth factors they contain.

A simple blood draw is performed. The sample is then centrifuged to extract a solution. This solution is then reinjected into areas affected by hair loss.

Like all our treatments, the growth factor treatment can be done per session, as a series of treatments, as part of a care formula, or in addition to an FUE transplant, depending on your situation.

Discover our dedicated page to this treatment by clicking on the button below!

Growth Factors

Absolutely not! All our treatments are recommended for both women and men.

The treatments can, for example, treat or halt mild or moderate alopecia, stimulate hair regrowth after an illness or pregnancy, or regenerate hair damaged by stress.

Stopping hair loss, reactivating their growth cycles, gaining density and quality: the benefits of treatments respond to numerous scenarios. They can be offered in a series of several sessions, combined in formulas, or associated with an FUE transplant. Our highly specialized doctors will guide you towards the most effective care scenario!

All our treatments

The most innovative treatment performed by our doctors.

Your surgeon takes cells from a tiny area of your body, filters and conditions them, then injects them into your scalp using mesotherapy. This mesograft is capable of reactivating the hair growth cycle where it is lacking by taking advantage of your own cells’ extraordinary properties.

For the Rigenera technology, this sampling is usually performed on a tiny area at the back of the skull. For the Nanofat technology, your specialized surgeon performs a mini liposuction that will allow the precious solution to be collected after meticulous filtering.

Like all our treatments, hair mesograft can be done per session, as part of a care formula, or in addition to an FUE transplant, depending on your situation.

Hair Mesograft

Of course!

Each patient is unique, and their situation is thoroughly examined as part of a rigorous and innovative diagnosis.

For many situations, a course of treatments will dramatically respond to a faltering head of hair lacking vitality, damaged by stress, illness, or pregnancy for women. They are also ultra-effective weapons for curbing early baldness.

Even better, if a transplant is necessary due to the relentless advance of alopecia, a past treatment will accelerate the result of this transplant! Just like a treatment carried out after a transplant will save time on the natural regrowth of new hair, allowing you to enjoy your new look even faster.

Transplants and treatments are therefore capable of addressing many issues separately, but they can also synergize if your situation requires it!

With Racine2 customised support, your specialist doctor will always point you in the direction of the most effective strategy based on his or her comprehensive diagnosis.

Treatments

The amazing properties of light for repairing and boosting your scalp.

Red light penetrates the heart of the hair bulb and has a healing and restorative action, while yellow light works at the deepest part of the dermis: it slows hair loss, stimulates regrowth, and provides a real feeling of well-being.

A course of light therapy is the ideal and accessible way to maintain healthy hair throughout the year.

Even better, these sessions combine perfectly with a course of mesotherapy, a hair mesograft, or an FUE transplant, maximizing the revitalizing actions of treatments and promoting the regrowth of transplanted hair.

After my transplant

One of the many qualities of the FUE technique is the absence of a scar!

The area taken is intact, as if nothing had happened. However, it is important to note that while waiting for the first results, redness, scabs, and small edemas may appear. Rest assured, this is entirely normal and these slight discomforts fade in just a few days.

If you feel an itch, that's a good sign.

This means that healing is underway. However, you should not scratch this area under any circumstances. To relieve itching, you can spray the area with any water mister or spray.

And don’t forget the right reflex: if you have concerns or questions, our teams are available to answer you, by directly calling the secretariat or by contacting us through our social networks. You are never alone!

Do not wear a bonnet during the week following your operation.

For the cap, you can wear one a few hours a day in the first week and more regularly in the second. You need a wide cap that doesn’t press on the grafted areas. Allow 15 days for motorcycle helmets.

Of course, these instructions, like many others, are very clearly presented to you at the end of your transplant at Racine2. Nothing is left to chance in our bespoke accompaniment!

After a transplant, avoid any activity that could increase your blood pressure.

It is recommended to wait 72 hours before taking a short plane trip, and to wait 1 week before a long-haul flight. Ideally, use a travel pillow to avoid rubbing the affected areas.

The day after tomorrow, on Day 2 after the procedure, remove the bandage gently.

  • Remove the compresses.
  • Moisten with a mist of water if they are a bit stuck.
  • Use non-woven compresses, soak them, and pat the recipient area gently for 5 minutes.
  • Repeat these steps until all the crusts have fallen off, usually between 10 and 15 days.

Of course, these instructions, like many others, are very clearly presented to you at the end of your transplant at Racine2. Nothing is left to chance in our bespoke accompaniment!

Ease the itching but don't scratch right away!

It’s advisable to moisten the grafted area once an hour or as needed (for itching, dryness, etc.). If after 15 days the crusts haven’t fallen off, apply sweet almond oil and gently scratch afterwards.

If you have any concerns or questions, our teams are available to respond by calling the secretary directly or by contacting us through our social networks. You’re not alone!

Of course, these instructions, like many others, are very clearly presented to you at the end of your transplant at Racine2. Nothing is left to chance in our bespoke accompaniment!

Follow these instructions closely to ensure the best result for your transplant.

  • Stop smoking or compensate with an electronic cigarette or use patches 15 days before the procedure and completely stop for the following 15 days after the procedure.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking prescribed antibiotics.
  • Do not engage in intense sports activities for 2 weeks to avoid sweating.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure to the implantation area for one to two weeks.
  • Avoid using chemical products (hairspray, gel, wax, hair dye, etc.) for one month.

A sheet with all the recommendations will be given to you as part of your care at Racine Carrée. If you have any concerns or questions, our teams are available to respond by calling the secretary directly or by contacting us through our social networks. You’re not alone!
